Las Marias Mexican Restaurante 615 Ridgewood Ave Holly Hill, FL (386) 290-3365 Las Marias was a surprise in many ways. From the outside it looked like
it might be a great restaurant offering good Mexican food and it was!
The menu is in Spanish with English subtitles. The lady who took our order spoke only some English. Red overstuffed chairs with large brass tacks all around them graced ordinary tables. The large screen TV was showing the day's news from Univision with lots of ads in Spanish. We were brought a basket of baked taco chips with an average salsa. I had tacos. These were traditional tacos on a soft warm flour tortilla. They were not the Anglicized type you get at that famous country wide chain. Mine were great. I had one with beef tongue to see what it was like and three combo meat tacos. It was all good. My partner had Chicken Quesadilla, which tasted much better than any she's ever had before. The rice and beans that came with it were average. She ordered a side of guacamole which was fresh and delicious. She also ordered Churros with strawberry for dessert. They were quite tasty. The parking lot was spacious and the restrooms were clean. Restrooms were well stocked and pretty nice but the floors seemed to be tracked up at the time.. |
